No fewer than 55 heritage sites situated across the state has been identified by Abia State government to boost it’s tourism offerings.
The state’s Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy revealed the attractions which include notable Ulochukwu Cave in Alayi, Bende LGA, Mazi Okorie Orji’s Compound in Arochukwu, and Ntugbo, Oloko Ikwuano, where participants of the 1929 Aba Women’s Riot were tried.
The state government is said to be committed to paying attention to these historical sites to preserve Abia’s cultural heritage and attract tourists.
It is gathered that in collaboration with the Federal Government, the state also plans to revamp the National War Museum Umuahia/ Ojukwu Bunker.
Abia State Governor Alex Otti is believed to have been working on providing tourist infrastructure, a hotel and all that, also signed the Abia Electricity Bill into law. This is geared towards positioning as a tourism -friendly state
