Nigerian Railway Corporation Gets New MD, Opeifa

One time Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Substantive Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

Opeifa, could be considered as more effective than the then state Commissioner on transportation. Not s few said Opeifa actually overshadowed the then Commissioner during his days as Special Adviser on Transportation before taking charge completely
as Transport Commissioner during Fashola’s second tenure.
Opeifa served as the Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Task Team (PTT) to free Apapa gridlock by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He was later appointed as Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by Buhari.
Opeifa takes over from Ben Iloanusi, who was acting Managing Director that replaced former Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, who exited on October 18, 2024, after completion of his second four-year tenure.
Iloanusi, who is the Director in charge of Procurement department, was appointed Acting MD because he is the most senior Director in the NRC.
